Axkid launches the Minikid Core rear-facing car seat, designed for easier installation, wider vehicle compatibility and extended rear-facing travel up to around seven years.
Quick Summary: Axkid has introduced the Minikid Core, a new rear-facing car seat designed to make extended rear-facing travel easier for families. Suitable from 40 to 125 cm (up to 28 kg), it offers flexible belt installation, a compact design and safety testing that exceeds standard requirements.
Axkid has unveiled the Minikid Core, a new rear-facing car seat created to make high levels of child safety easier for families to access and use every day. The latest addition to the brand’s well-known Minikid range, the Minikid Core blends strong safety credentials with a more straightforward and flexible experience, from fitting the seat in the car to using it on a daily basis.
Suitable for children measuring 40 to 125 cm, and supporting a maximum weight of 28 kg, the seat is designed to allow children to travel rear facing from newborn through to around seven years old.
According to Anton Wall, Commercial Director and Deputy CEO at Axkid, the new seat continues the company’s aim of making extended rear-facing travel more achievable for more families. The Minikid Core has been developed with a more accessible price point while also improving compatibility with a wider range of cars and seating positions, offering parents greater flexibility without sacrificing safety performance.
Straightforward installation with a strong focus on safety
The Minikid Core is a belt fitted rear-facing car seat, meaning installation is completed using the vehicle’s seat belt rather than ISOFIX. Unlike many traditional belt fitted seats, it does not require lower tether straps.
Instead, the seat uses an integrated anti-rotation bar combined with a support leg, creating a secure and stable installation while keeping the process simpler for parents.
This design approach makes the Minikid Core Axkid’s lightest belt installed seat to fit, and allows it to be positioned in almost any seating location in the vehicle, including the front passenger seat where this is permitted. Because ISOFIX is not required, the seat can be used in a wide variety of vehicles, from smaller city cars to larger family models.
Built to adapt as your child grows
The Minikid Core has been developed to adjust both to the vehicle and to your growing child.
Key features include:
- DualRecline™: a two stage reclining base that can be rotated to alter the seat angle. One position is designed for smaller children while the second is suited to older, taller passengers.
- Adjustable anti-rotation bar offering four legroom positions to help improve comfort as children get bigger.
- Eight position adjustable headrest, ensuring the headrest and harness remain correctly positioned as your child grows.
- CompactFit™ design, which helps the seat take up less space in the car, making it easier to fit in smaller vehicles or alongside other car seats.
- SafeLock™ belt clamp system, which holds the vehicle seat belt firmly in place to help maintain a secure installation.
Tested beyond standard requirements
As with the rest of the Minikid range, safety testing for the Minikid Core goes further than the minimum requirements.
The seat has passed the Swedish Plus Test, widely regarded as one of the most demanding crash tests in the world. It has also been evaluated using a larger HIIIW 6-year-old crash test dummy, which allows approval for children weighing up to 28 kg.
In addition, the Minikid Core has been assessed for installation with a two point seat belt, meaning it can also be used in certain vehicles such as vans and buses where this type of belt may be fitted.
