Venicci are well known for their stylish traditional prams but now they are stepping out with the Tinum, a contemporary urban pushchair. Venicci are marketing it as ‘The dream pram' so let's see how it performed.
We're used to seeing Veniccis styled up traditional prams gracing the streets around us but now they have entered the market with something new for them - a contemporary urban pushchair to rival the likes of the Mamas & Papas Ocarro and the BabyStyle Oyster 3. We were drawn in by the up-market looks and attractive price point of the Tinum so have reviewed it to give you our verdict.
Suitability: Birth - 22kg
Folded size: L: 62.5CM | W: 57CM | H: 27CM
We couldn't quite believe what came in the box of the Venicci Tinum. For £799 we received the pushchair chassis, carrycot, seat unit, car seat, changing bag and changing mat, apron, carrycot raincover, seat unit raincover, carrycot mosquito net, seat unit mosquito net and car seat adapters - If this isn't value for money then we aren't sure what is!
The Tinum is easy to assemble by just putting the wheels onto the chassis and clicking the carrycot into place and away you go.
As with the rest of the Venicci range, the push of Tinum is delightful. Even over gravel pathways and grass the push was smooth making it a great pushchair for park walks and city strolls. We love how this pushchair can easily be steered with one hand. The handlebar is slim, fitting perfectly and comfortably into your palm. The handlebar adjusts in height and even the tallest and shortest of testers found a comfortable height to push at using the central palm button on the handlebar.
The basket space is great and the basket is deep with high sides to hold everything you could ever need to take with you on your days out. We love the handy zipped pouch at the back of the basket. It was perfect for keeping those more frequently used items easily accessible.
The brake pedal is neat and doesn't protrude too much from the back of the pushchair. It is easy to flick on and flick off with your foot making it perfect for the stop-and-go lifestyle of urban living.
The carrycot has some fabulous features and we were really impressed with the soft lining and the extendable hood which provided extra shelter for tiny babies.
The seat unit can parent face and world face. IN parent facing mode the seat unit can hold a weight of 15kg and in world facing mode a limit of 22kg. We tested how the Tinum pushed with a 19kg 4 year old in it and it was just fine! This higher weight limit of the Tinum means that you will only ever need to make one pushchair purchase. The seat is nice and roomy and comfortable for your little one and it has the extra styling of the venicci logo every so often which really adds to the quality finish and overall attractive looks of the pushchair.
The hood on the seat unit is also impressive as it zips open to reveal an extra extendable panel and there is a lovely viewing window that opens neatly and allows you to check in on baby quietly.
Included in the bundle is a car seat and car seat adapters meaning that you can use your Tinum frame along with the car seat for quick trips. This is a convenient way of travelling baby for short periods of time to save disturbing them by lifting them in and out of their car seat. If you wish to purchase an ISOFIX base to make clicking the car seat in and out of the car even easier then you can do this at an additional cost of £129.
We can't write this review without telling you about the fold - it is very clever! For a full sized travel system you would expect the fold to be cumbersome but it is in fact sleek and very neat.
When the carrycot is on the frame you simply remove the carrycot and use the handle in the centre of the chassis to fold the pushchair frame down.
When the seat unit is in place you use the recline button on the back of the seat and fold the seat in half up towards the handlebar before using the same handle above the shopping basket to fold the pushchair down. We were amazed at the nice compact fold and it was also quite easy to carry using the included shoulder carry strap.
Even though the basket space is really spacious and handy, the accessibility could be a bit better. The high sides of the basket meant we couldn't easily reach in from the sides and when the seat unit was in the forward facing position with our 2 year old toddler, the footrest blocked most of the access if it was down. That said, this isn't a huge issue at all, there were never any struggles and it certainly wouldn't stop us buying the Tinum or recommending it to friends as a great all round pushchair.
We loved the carrycot with its padded interior and extra attention to detail in the apron stitching and it's extendable hood but it is worth noting that whilst many carrycots are suitable for overnight sleeping acting as a moses basket for baby during overnight stays, the Tinum carrycot is not suitable for overnight sleeping meaning there is one more thing to squeeze in the care on those staycations.
Venicci have really impressed us with the Tinum travel system. Not only is it superb value for money with everything that is included in the box, it is also great quality too.
The chrome detailing, attention to details and easy to use functions such as the compact fold make it a really great option for parents looking for an all round pushchair.
We give the Venicci Tinum 4.5 out of 5 stars
