Whats not so good?

  • Wheel material didn't always give the smoothest push

Things we love

Peg Perego has carefully thought out many of the design features on this stroller and really targeted the urban market. The narrow wheelbase is a mere 51cm wide so it can fit through turnstiles, tight spaces and even through a single French-style doorway.

The finish of the Peg Perego Ypsi gives a feeling of total quality and the finer details such as the stitching on the height-adjustable handlebar really do make all the difference to the overall image of the pushchair.

The softly upholstered seat is roomy and can accommodate a child up to 22kg with ease. The 5-point harness is easily adjusted from baby to small child and the seat is deep. The hood gives superb coverage over the baby's seating area and the bumper bar is gate-opening to allow easy access too.

The seat is recommended for use from 6 months but if you want to use the Ypsi from birth then you can purchase the carrycot for an additional £230. This has a lovely comfortable mattress as well as an adjustable backrest, which comes in really handy for babies who struggle with reflux.

The shopping basket is a great size, and our favourite overall feature is the pirouette wheel that adjusts the front wheels between lock and swivel, depending on the terrain you are strolling over. The wheel is located halfway down the chassis which means you don't need to strain all the way down to the wheels when you need to lock them for walking over cobbled pavements or other slightly rougher terrain. The fold is unique in its operation but easily done and the seat usefully folds in half to create a compact all-in-one package.

We also love how the Ypsi comes complete with a footmuff that complements the pushchair fabrics. The footmuff is cosy and large, meaning it accommodates little ones of all ages and it has a very functional design with a central zip so getting baby in and out is quick and simple.

Things to look out for

There weren't many cons for us whilst using the Peg Perego Ypsi. We loved the functional features for parents and the comfort for baby. We also loved the style. We did, however, just have one niggle that the wheel material didn't always give the smoothest of rides. A different tyre material would have been preferable in this regard but this is us being very picky!
