We asked busy mum Emily to see how the UPPAbaby Vista 2017 fitted into daily life with 7-month-old Albie and big brother Ted, 5.
For my first child I had a Bugaboo Cameleon, and I have to admit I was apprehensive about whether any other pushchair could live up to what I already had. Here's what happened when I put the UPPAbaby Vista 2017 to the test...
The new Vista comes in some lovely colours, but I chose black - primarily because I get the pushchair in and out of the car about six times a day on average, and as we enjoy walks out it gets muddy and I didn't want the fabric to show marks.
When it came to fitting the pushchair together, I questioned whether I could do it, but it was so simple - and the instructions weren't needed for any of it. The boys sat and watched and were very excited to have their first ride, so around the house we went!
My first impression was WOW! How could a pushchair be this smooth to push and also so lightweight? The fold was incredibly easy and I like that there is a clip to hold the frame together.
I absolutely LOVE the fact that the carrycot is a completely separate unit to the pushchair seat and this got me very excited! It meant I could have the best of both worlds with no hassle of having to change between pram and seat unit, causing zero inconvenience.
The brake is next to the right-hand rear wheel and is extremely easy to apply and release, with the added bonus that it goes red when applied, which is a reassuring double-checking feature when you're racing around in a hurry.
The basket is phenomenal! It totally sells the pushchair to me and I have had so many comments on it from both friends and people I don't know. On one day out, I fitted the changing bag, three coats, a picnic, my eldest's bag and two picnic blankets in there, and there was still room!
wheels are brilliant. Very sturdy and easy to get up and down pavements.
The only comment I would make here is that because the rear wheels are
quite big, I did struggle once at playgroup to fit through a single door
and had to instead use the double doors.
The pushchair handle can be easily moved up and down to suit height, and we found this hugely beneficial for other family members who are quite a bit smaller than we are.
Both the seat and carrycot are very spacious, Albie isn't the longest of babies but it is clear that this pushchair will last a long time for when he does grow! I was particularly impressed with the fact the bottom end of the seat can be moved up or down. So as he grows, he will remain comfortable. The seat harness can be altered as your child grows too, which is perfect. As Albie is still only little he does fall asleep in the pushchair if out on a walk. The recline was easy to operate, with a pull lever on the back of the seat. There are several recline options so your child doesn't have to be fully flat if they don't want to be.
The hood is excellent. When world-facing it has a flap that can be lifted so you can check on your passenger! In addition to this, the extending sun canopy, offering UV protection, is a fantastic design feature. It gives added protection from the sun and I also used this for when I was trying to get Albie to sleep and found it is a good tool for avoiding eye contact! My only improvement on the Vista would be here as I would like the hood to be extended to allow full body coverage from the sun when required.
As I said, I get the
pushchair in and out the car many times a day due to the school run.
It is incredibly lightweight given that it has such a sturdy frame, making for a very
We were also fortunate to test the PiggyBack board. This was an absolute winner for my 5-year-old, who loves to be out and about but can't always keep up with me! When asked if it was comfortable to stand on, he said it was amazing! From a parent point of view, it's very easy to fit and remove, and also lightweight. I love the grip on there that he stands on too.
I've had a wonderful experience with the UPPAbaby Vista 2017. Both boys thoroughly enjoy using the Vista, bringing lots of smiles to our family time out and about!
I award the Vista 2017 5 out of 5!
