Mothercare Spin Review

Quick Summary: The good point about the car seat is that it fits independently on the frame. On the negative side, my little boy seemed quite squashed and uncomfortable so I had to take out the head hugger. The hood on the car seat is a complete waste of time, it is not big enough to be effective. There isn't a raincover that goes with this seat, you can use the Mothercare universal raincover but it doesn't fit well, so it blows off in the wind and the air vents let rain in.

The Mothercare Spin was easy to put together with simple click on wheels that can be taken on and off when required

This pram is really nice to push and I have had loads of people comment on how nice it looks. It's fantastic the way that the seat can be changed from forward facing to parent facing without having to take the pram to bits or even the baby out of the pram.

It comes with a matching coyotes, that is really soft and can also be used as a pram liner. The rain cover has a zip so that you can get to your baby easily. The matching car seat fits independently onto the frame which makes it easier for shopping.

It folds down to fit in the car and has a carry handle. The frame fits easily through doors in shops and there is a pull handle that changes position easily; simple clips change it from laying flat to a sitting up and vice versa . I liked the wheels as they have rubber tyres (not the ones that puncture easily).

On the down side, the Spin does not have many recline positions. The seat must be removed to collapse it. Not everything is removable for washing and the silver bits on the pram can quickly get dirty looking. Part of the hood is netting, which makes it completely ineffective when the sun is at a certain angle, the baby gets blasted by bright sunlight. When you are using the pram at the newborn stage, the raincover has to be completely removed to access the baby.

The pram has to be put on in a set way, otherwise it does not go on correctly, sometimes it is difficult to know which way due to the the Spin design, the same goes for the pram fold.

If you have a small car the frame takes up the whole of the boot and in my Mum's car we even have to take the wheels off. The shopping basket, at first glance appears to be ok but the design makes it difficult to put shopping into it. You can't hang anything off the handles as it is a solid rail, I found that my baby bag kept slipping down the handle, especially if the pram is being used in the parent facing direction, my bag ended up banging on my baby's legs.

Although I have been quite harsh on the Spin, I still really like it. It looks fantastic, is easy to use, once you get used to the design and how it folds. As I generally use the bus to get around, it doesn't really bother me that it can be a pain to fold. This is an all-round pram that will see you through from birth right up to about 3 or 4 yrs old.
