BabyStyle Oyster 2011 Review

3.5 / 5
The Oyster is a stylish, lightweight and easy to assemble pushchair with both parent-facing and forward- facing capabilities.

Quick Summary: Overall, it has been a good pushchair and so far has served all our needs. However, it's not the sturdiest stroller on the market but it does offer great value for its price.

Whats good?

  • Stylish
  • Lightweight frame
  • Easy to manoeuvre
  • Folds easily
  • Extendable handle

Whats not so good?

  • Carrycot too narrow
  • Poor front suspension
  • Main seat not suitable for a young/small baby

The Oyster is simple to use with a quick folding mechanism making it easy to fold down and pop into the boot of even the smallest of cars. The lightweight aluminum frame makes it easy to maneuver whilst the ability to attach a Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix makes it ideal when transporting a young baby.

In addition to the stroller, we also bought the carrycot which was ideal at first but as our 9 pound newborn rapidly grew, it became too narrow so we had to move up to the main seat. However the Oyster seat is only suitable from 6 months and does not fully recline and therefore does not have enough support for a small baby.

In addition we found that the front suspension isn't very effective. Furthermore, within two months of owning our Oyster, we started to find the back wheel was squealing and later turned into a jammed break. It took less than 4 days for BabyStyle to pick it up, repair the break and return it. Excellent customer service!

Overall, it has been a good pushchair and so far has served all our needs. However, it's not the sturdiest stroller on the market but it does offer great value for its price.
