For many years, Silver Cross has been synonymous with
quality pushchairs; after all it was probably the pushchair of choice of many
of our parents and Grandparents before them. It has a heritage, a heritage they
hope will last for generations.
Here at Pushchair Expert, we are particularly impressed with what Silver Cross has brought to market recently.
Silver Cross Reflex
The Reflex really has changed the way that people are beginning to look at strollers. No longer are strollers merely a means of transportation for getting your wriggling toddler from A to B. We now expect them to be comfortable, durable and of course they need to be appealing to the eye. No one wants to push a monstrosity. The Reflex has taken all these factors in to account and we love it.
So what makes the Reflex different from the rest?
Firstly, you can use it from birth in parent-facing mode. You can purchase a newborn nest which quite frankly is gorgeous. It is made of the softest bamboo material you could imagine. It’s not every one’s cup of tea using a from-birth stroller but for traveling or city life this is about as perfect as you can get.
Second, has to be the LED lights situated on the sides. It’s one of those safety elements that we expect to see on more and more strollers, especially useful for school runs in the winter and walks on foggy and gloomy autumn afternoons.
Silver Cross Pioneer
The Pioneer is the big brother of the successful Wayfarer, which was brought back to market last year (after the original was launched in the 1970s).
What do we
particularly like about the Silver Cross Pioneer?
The Pioneer as one of the most practical pushchairs we have seen for a while. The basket is massive – large enough for any mother’s shopping spree plus plenty of room for those emergency nappy-purchasing moments.
The chunky wheels make it a real contender in the world of urban-countryside cross-over prams. You can successfully traipse across parkland with the Pioneer, yet it is just as at home in the local shopping centre.
Silver Cross Surf 2
And finally, we have the Surf 2 which was launched earlier
this year. Silver Cross has done what all manufacturers should do and listened
to the consumer. They have used this feedback to produce one of our favourite
travel systems on the market. The new Surf 2 definitely be a contender should
we personally be purchasing a from-birth option.
Why would we pick the Surf 2?
Quite simply, we would consider the Surf 2 as it offers everything a new parent needs for urban living. The quality is outstanding for the price tag. We love the fact that it now comes with a spacious carrycot that can be used for occasional over night sleeping – so easy when travelling with a newborn in those early months.
The basket is more spacious than the original Surf, which
would have honestly put us off this pushchair in the past. But now, lots of boxes
are ticked – the larger basket and the inclusion of the carrycot are a big plus
point in our eyes.
The Surf 2, like all it’s recent siblings, comes in a range of eye-catching colours. The only difficult question would be, which colour would we pick?
