Recaro has announced that its car seat and stroller company, Recaro Child Safety, will cease operations from the end of this month. Its products - known for their two-tone racing style, in keeping with Recaro's background in motorsport, car and aircraft seating - will remain on sale for the rest of the year, and customer service including warranties will be provided until 31st December 2019.
There are currently 13 Recaro car seats on the market across Groups 0+,1, 2 and 3, including i-Size models and those with a side pocket and integrated headrest speakers to keep passengers entertained on the road. Time has also been called on the super-compact Easylife stroller and Citylife travel system.
The company has put the decision down to an ongoing downturn in sales and earnings, which has worsened again since the start of the year. Despite cost-reduction measures, improved brand positioning and the continued development of new products, Recaro Child Safety was unable to turn its fortunes around in "an intensely competitive market".
