If you thought there wasn't anything more that could be done to improve your pushchair, it is time to think again. For we have seen the future and we reckon many of you are going to want to test out the new wheels on the block!
Last week, we went to the international nursery show, Kind & Jugend in Cologne, Germany. It's where the great and the good from across the globe gather together to reveal their latest innovations to the World. This year did not disappoint. So, if you are expecting a baby in 2017, looking for a double stroller with a difference or simply need to add to your collection, get the lowdown on what is going to be hot in the pushchair market next year.
We have to start with this. There are no words for what we saw from Maxi-Cosi, definitely a complete game-changer. They have introduced new airbag technology which will be available in a seat due out next year. It looks just like other airbags, and deploys on impact but the technology that has gone into making these is just incredible. The airbags are integrated into the harness, but unlike others that are activated through heat and make a loud noise, Maxi-Cosi have developed airbags that use cold air technology and pose no risk to baby's ears. We were shown a video and then saw the product in action and we have to say it was quite an emotional experience. This brand is innovating to such a degree that we are really inspired.
The Bugaboo Donkey and the UPPAbaby Vista are the reigning champions of the pushchair that converts from a single to a double and back again. But, it would seem they have some competition from other brands that would love to take their crown. We have recently reviewed the new Britax B-READY and loved it, and it was there on show in Germany for all to see.
So too, was the juicy new reveal from iCandy…the Orange! With over 30 combinations, a shopping basket that is just huge, it even has an integrated ride on board. This is a tasty treat for those who are thinking that they might have children close together or are expecting twins.
Think Silver Cross and you think chic, classic designs, well their new Wave is certainly no exception. The fabrics on this are just divine, with lots of intricate details. We think this is going to be a big hit for this British brand.
The City Select Lux from Baby Jogger was also a joy to behold with its super cool seat. What's more, this can take not one, two but three kids. We sense this is going to be a popular choice too.
Bye Bye Umbrella Stroller!
Mixing it up to whole new levels
Another brand shaking things up…Quinny. They are back and with so much style! You can literally personalise your WHOLE pushchair; from chassis to handlebar to carrycot and seat colour, mixing and matching until your hearts content. A bespoke pushchair that is all yours, all yours at Quinny prices and delivered to your door within four weeks! That's unheard of for pushchairs so well done Quinny, we think this is going to be a huge hit in 2017!
Standing out from the rest
The clever little brand Joie are bringing out the Crosster, a fab little running pushchair we think.
Mamas & Papas seem to be back in the game with their latest launches. This is the Ocarro which is sure to turn a few heads when it is launched later on this year.
Also, Graco has launched the Modes 3 Lite, it's rather clever as it can be used as a stroller or a travel system and has a FastAction technology for a quick one hand fold. Baby can parent or world face and it is suiable from birrth up to 15kg. It got the thumbs up from us. egg have created a clever little insert for their seat which means your baby can lie flat, as well as some jaw-droppingly lovely new bags. phil&teds have some super cool new designs and Cosatto is set to launch something, well, a little more sedate! Graco has a new i-Size seat and so too does Good Baby and a new car seat is set to come from Oyster that has a stand-out design.
And finally, the super small BABYZEN YOYO+ will soon have it's own ride on board. For any of you who own it already, the board is compatible and will work just fine, it would seem they had always planned to launch one and finally we are finding out about it!
