Want to know what the next big thing is going to be in the pushchair market? Well, read on as we have spent the last four days at Kind&Jugend - one of the largest nursery trade shows where manufacturers reveal their new products for next year.
One thing is for sure, 2018 is the year of the compact stroller! It's fair to say that brands are no longer interested in the umbrella stroller, it is all about the compact city or aeroplane friendly stroller.
You have got to give it to CYBEX, they aren't ones to disappoint when it comes to innovation. The EEZY S TWIST took centre stage on their stand and really was getting vocal ‘wows'. This stroller has a one hand mechanism that allows you to rotate the seat unit from parent facing to world facing - so no need to lift up the seat unit and switch it over. The stroller is pretty understated to look at but wows when it needs to - the rotating seat and the super small fold. We were impressed. It will be available from March 2018.
Well, well, well, what have we here from UPPAbaby. A brand that never likes to do things by halves, they are a launching a stroller that blows their old G-LUXE out of the water by arguably a fair number on the market right now. Sleek lines, lovely fabrics and highly functional, the MINU is one for city sleekers who want a stroller that won't let them down. It has a decent and accessible basket on it, a big seat unit (the same size as the Cruz) with a clever fold that ensures any part of the stroller that the child sits in doesn't come into contact with the floor.
Now, we know many of you love your Oyster's already so you are going to just love the new Oyster 3. A pushchair that is already packed full of features, this is just a smarter version. Firstly, let's take the fold - with the wheels off this is such a compact fold, it really did rival a compact stroller in this sense. The chassis no longer has rivets on it and the shoulder height and hood height can be adjusted with one easy manoeuvre on the back of the seat unit. The carrycot mechanism is now super easy and effortlessly comes off.
The Rachel Zoe collection has proved a real winner for Quinny. Black, white and tan it has simple, clean lines with a glamourous feel. Quinny and Rachel Zoe have teamed up once again to create a new collection that again has the same simple and chic look. Using an almost pearlescent fabric it has an eye-catching finish. The chassis is rose gold and the tags offer some sparkle. It's likely to turn heads this one.
If you are an active soul and want to continue being so post-baby, then GB has something that you may just love. Sporting a very cool look, the Maris Bold sports is made with athlesiure materials and even has a super cool neon visor that reminds us of what tennis players wore in the 90s. The colours are all bold with neon accents, you walk the streets with this and you will not go unnoticed. It will be available from January 2018.
Now, Mountain Buggy may be a brand that you often consider to be understated. Well, there new 'Year of the Dog' special edition offers something quite different. During the day you can experience the year of the dog print in a chic grey design but by night, wow, this pushchair comes alive. See how the fabric almost illuminates! This is a real show stopper and we think trumps their other ‘year of' pushchairs by a long way.
So there you have it, a round-up of the pushchairs to look out for in 2018. We are sworn to secrecy on a number of other sets of wheels but we promise we will let you know about them as soon as we are allowed.
An exciting year - let us know which one if your favourite.
