Anastasija Harris, her husband and their two girls, aged 4 and 1, have been using the Ickle Bubba Discovery for day-to-day trips at home in Norfolk as well as taking this popular umbrella stroller with them for a break in the sun in Majorca. Here's how they got on...
For me, the Ickle Bubba Discovery in grey is a great unisex stroller. I really like this fabric on the silver chassis - it has a very classy appearance and even though we've got a little girl and grey's not a feminine colour, she looks adorable in this! I would definitely keep it for my next one, and if it's a boy then it's great too - a win-win situation.
The Discovery is light and easy to manage but still seems very durable and well built, so feels safe for my precious little girl. My husband really liked how simple it is to fold down and pop it up again. I use it day to day and it is very easy.
We took it to Majorca and the fact that it is so light and easy to carry, even though it's an umbrella fold, definitely made getting through the airport both ends more straightforward. Maybe it would be handy to have a strap, not just a handle, as being able to put the pushchair over your shoulder and hold both children's hands would help if you have running away toddlers, which I have!
I like the leatherette detail on the handles, bumper bar and footrest. It looks so smart and was great for wiping off muddy boot or shoe marks. However, in the hotter sunshine on holiday in Majorca, it did overheat, I had to use a little towel for baby as it was a bit too hot for her feet.
This stroller is perfect for naps as the seat lies flat and is easy to recline - just one hand and press down, so it doesn't wake her if she's already fallen asleep.
The Discovery really is very easy to handle, even on more difficult ground. I know some strollers struggle if the surface isn't level, but we could tell this one has front and rear suspension and you don't really feel all the bumps between slabs or any stones. We have taken it out for walks in the woods, and it's still easy to push there too and gives a smooth ride. The lockable front wheels are easy to use as well. It was harder going on our gravel drive but not many strollers are great with that!
The hood is okay for most British weather but I would like it to be larger for those sunny days and I found on holiday I did need a bit more coverage for my baby.
The basket's good for a stroller, it's easy to pop your bag in and there's a pocket on the back of the hood for those little essentials. I kept my phone and keys there within easy reach.
The bumper bar is a good idea that you don't always get with a stroller. I just found that it was too high for my baby and sat almost in front of her face, even though she's a year old and tall for her age, so I haven't used it much.
The straps are padded and comfy for baby, and the seat is too. I think that is why my bubba had some long naps in the Discovery.
Overall, this is a great stroller and at £139 (orffordable too.
