So day one in Harrogate - wow, that flew by...
Here are some of the gems we have seen so far.
The Joolz stand was high on our list of places to visit and it did not disappoint. Joolz have launched a new brand design for 2012, drawing inspiration from nature and adventure. Their stand looked very impressive with the urban jungle style backdrop.
We were able to get a much closer look at the new special editions, the Earth and the Expedition. They look fantastic in the flesh. The new nature inspired colour schemes set the Day apart from the mass of traditional blue, red and pink. Joolz use of high end materials such as leather for the handles really does work giving the Day the upmarket feel now expected from this brand.
iCandy next, for a overview of the Peach in the new colours. We also got some more details about the new Peach Blossom 2 and Blossom Twin 2.
With its new extended convertor bars, iCandy have created a larger lower seat with a 3 position recline. The Blossom 2 carrycots are now identical in size meaning the child in the lower carrycot has more room. It can also now accommodate 2 Maxi-Cosi Pebble car seats.
New colours released at the show are, Black Magic, Parma Violet, Silver Mint and Berry Bon Bon.
So for lovers of Americana, the long awaited Orbit Baby G2 should hit the UK in August this year. The G2 has been designed and developed by a group of young entrepreneurs based in Silicon Valley in a building right next to Google and just up the street from Apple. This really shows in the design and engineering that has gone into the G2. Think of it as the iPhone of the pushchair world. Its beautifully engineered, clever and very user friendly. Look out for our review coming up very soon!
The Petite Star may have a strange name, the NJOY bubble, but we reckon that you will all love this clever stroller. Available from August, the NJOY is (we believe) the first true-umbrella fold stroller that can be folded with the seat facing the parent or world facing. The bubble is suitable from birth, making its £199 price very attractive as it will take you from the early months right into toddler years.
The seat does not need to be removed when going from forward to rearward facing, it moves in one easy motion. Brilliant!
Monday - 26th of March
Baby Jogger were showing their GT version of their every popular City Mini. Changes over the City Mini include:
Also on show was the City Mini GT Twin.
Baby Jogger City Versa.
The Baby Jogger City Versa caused quite a stir. Perhaps the holy grail for Baby Jogger fans, it is capable of folding in true Baby Jogger one handed style with the seat facing the parent! We love this product and think Baby Jogger have a real hit on their hands!
The Versa should hit the streets between July and September retailing at around £399.
Silver Cross Winter Pack: £100. Very James Bond on a ski trip - in a good way!
Silver Cross Summer Pack: £75. Great use of bamboo based fabric which exhibits excellent moisture wicking properties to keep your child comfy on a hot day.
The Surf elevation now gets a fixed front wheel kit making it into a jogger. Only £65 and we think it looks quite funky!
Last but not least from Silver Cross, the Sleepover Elegance is an addition to the more traditional range of prams they produce. She is the Bentley of the pram world but with a bit of a party trick. All elements (seat, carry cot etc) can be used on a Linear Freeway frame! Perfect for a trip to the shops...
Nipper proudly showed us a new version of the 360. It will now go through a standard internal door. This really makes this pushchair a compelling proposition as a double!
Phil&Teds Promenade Colour Packs
There was not much we had not seen at Phil&Teds and Mountain Buggy, however, the colour packs for the Promenade were new. They come in Chilli, Light Grey, Flint and Black.
There is something about the Easywalker June that looks just right. I cannot put my finger on it, it just looks great in the flesh. The June will go on sale in the UK, in.... you have guessed it - June and will be available with a Black or Silver frame with a choice of Blue, Black, Off White, Red and Pink. At £529.99 for the pushchair and £149.99 for the carry cot, June is not cheap, but she is very well made and quite different. We will be getting our hands on one in late April so watch this space!
The most innovative product to stand out of the show was the RukBug. Invented by Russell Clifton, RukBug is a stroller you can fold and carry on your back using the rucksack that is attached below the handle. Russell expects the RukBug to weighs just 7kgs when it is finally complete.
The long wheelbase and positioning of the rucksack ensure that the pushchair will not tip over with the bag loaded with shopping. Russell says the RukBug is to be available from September this year. One other point to note, the RukBug will be produced entirely in the UK. We like that! We will keep you posted on developments.
Tuesday - 27th - the last day!
As I am sure you will have seen on Facebook, we took a look at the Mutsy Evo on Tuesday morning. The Evo will ship next week and retails as a 3 in 1 for £399.99. It is available in Bright Blue, Navy Blue, Black, Brown, Red and White. It looks great and we will have one to review within the next two weeks!
We have not had much to do with My Child on Pushchair Expert and I was pleasantly surprised when Lisa from Kooltrade introduced me to them. Available now, the My Child Pinto looks a really interesting proposition if you are on a budget and need new wheels. Retailing at £249.99 it includes the chassis, seat, footmuff and carseat. The Carrycot is only £99.99. The Pinto has a very ingenious one button release for the seat which I loved. Take a look it is worth it!
iCandy were showing off the super cool London Limited edition of the Peach. Clothed in a London graphic design, only 1000 will be made. At £1500 for a full package including footmuff, changing bag and the kitchen sink, it is not cheap, but what price is exclusivity!
We also took a look at the new Peach 2. iCandy have really spent the time to perfect their already excellent double. The Peach 2 has a 20% larger lower seat which now has 3 position recline. The lower bumper bar has been removed for easier access to your little one and the Maxi-Cosi Pebble now fits on the bottom location. In addition, iCandy have made both carry cots the same size. We expect to have one for testing very soon.
The Jane Muum seemed to get a bit of stick on our Facebook page when we posted about it. I guess it does have a similar frame to many recent designs, but I really liked it.
The Muum weights only 7.5kgs including the seat. It really is light. The fold is very simple and extremely compact. It even stands on its end when folded.
The simple black frame and red fabrics set it off and it has an excellent basket. I particularly like the wheels - very sports car. At £279.99 for the pushchair and £549.99 for a travel system, the Muum will be worth a look.
Bit of an odd photograph this, but look at the middle cross member on the chassis, can you see it is pointing to the front. This is a really clever, but simple element of the new Jane Twone. Janes new double is very swish. Based on the Muum Chassis, the Twone looks great and is as comfortable as twin as it is a single, having a very small footprint.
The Twone will cost from £500 depending on what options you choose. More on this as we will be reviewing the Twone very soon.
Tippitoes, had plenty to shout about, we loved the low cost Max Viz. At £49.99 it is excellent value and comes in some great colours. We are so over black!
We had an exclusive preview of the Toto, Tippitoes new travel system. At £385, it looks like it hits the right note with the price.
The design looks pretty interesting, with big basket and nice curves. The Product at the show was an early prototype and we will bring you more news on this product as we get it.
Last but not least, Foppapedretti. This is an Italian brand that we think is one to watch. The product is designer with a price tag to match, but is very well made and the design is really something different.
Oh yes and they have an electric version! Don't glaze over just yet, if you live in a hilly area, this will be music to your ears! Just pull the buttons and the pushchair glides up the hill taking the weight off you! It is brilliant!!
They will not be cheap when they hit our shores later this year, but you will want one!
