Peg Perego Viaggio 2-3 Flex Review

Things we love…

The best thing about this car seat is its ability to completely adjust in a 4D fashion to fit the child that it is carrying. You'd expect the headrest to adjust, which it does in five positions, but the Viaggio 2-3 Flex also increases in height by lengthening the body of the seat to one of three positions. There's a big size difference between a 3 year old and a 12 year old, and the Viaggio 2-3 copes with this by increasing by up to 10cm in width! You just twist a dial at the back of the seat, and the side protection arms open up.

Something you don't often see with Group 2/3 boosters is a recline function. This is a great idea, as older children will still sleep in the car. By reclining smoothly to five different positions, it prevents the head of the child from dropping forward.

Having ISOFIX connectors means that the car seat is a doddle to fit, and you have the reassurance of it being securely fitted to the car at all times, even if the child isn't travelling with you. Or if you'd rather remove the seat from the car when it isn't needed, it cleverly folds in half for easy storage at home or in your car boot, freeing up more room on your back seat! The seat covers are completely protected and there's a small handle to make it easier to carry.

Not only is this an easy car seat to fit and use, but it has all the safety features you need. The backrest is aluminium reinforced and the headrest and side wings are deep and rounded to protect a child's head and body from side impact. If you have other children, it's also great that the levers to release the ISOFIX connectors are hidden unless you pull the seat completely forward. This makes it impossible to accidentally release - very clever!

Things to look out for…

As far as Group 2/3 car seats go, the Viaggio Flex 2-3 is at the higher end of the price bracket. You do get lots of extras features, though, and it could potentially last you nine years without having to change your child's car seat.

Little extras like the pull-out cupholders and removable or wipe-clean fabrics mean that everyone is kept happy. It looks sturdy and classy in any car. We loved how easy it is to transport thanks to the clever fold, making it ideal for people who move their car seat regularly, or need one to take on holiday with them.

Peg Perego has done a great job at considering everything you want from a Group 2/3 car seat.
