With the confusion that sometimes surrounds different car seat groups and regulations, an option to parents is to choose a car seat that covers the whole time your child will need a car seat! We're taking a look at Cosatto's All in All car seat that goes from birth to around 12 years old.
Suitability Birth - 36kg
Group 0+/1/2/3 car seat
Weight 12kg
Colours Dragon Kingdom, Llamarama, Smile, Dawn Chorus and Mini Mermaid
RRP £224.95 (currently on offer £199.95)
Fitting the All in All should be simple in the majority of cars thanks to its ability to be used with the vehicle's own seat belt in all groups, or ISOFIX for Group 1, 2 and 3. The blue and red guides make it easy to follow seat belt routing
For newborn to 13kg, you fit the car seat in a rearfacing position with the car's seat belt. It offers a nice reclined angle and comes with a cosy newborn nest to make sure a small baby is kept comfortable and in a good position.
From then on you can use the car seat in a forward facing position, either with the car's ISOFIX anchors and Top Tether in Group 1, or with the car's seat belt. Offering something different to other manufacturers, Cosatto include a 5 point plus Anti-Escape System harness for use in Group 1, up to 18kg. This is a nifty way to keep toddler's fastened securely in their harness and prevent their arms from escaping!
The final position for Groups 2 and 3 is as a high backed booster, with the child secured in the seat with the car's own seatbelt from 15-36kg. You just need to remove the harness from the All in All and it's up to you if you also want to fit with the ISOFIX connectors too.
Although the All in All offers multi headrest heights, and it's simple to adjust it smoothly with one hand, you do need to unfasten the back of the seat fabric and rethread the harness to change the shoulder height as your child grows.
Our biggest negative is the fact that this is a car seat that will only last a baby as long as an infant carrier to rear face. The option to rear face until 18kg would be brilliant. It would also make the functionality a lot better if the harness was adjusted at the same time as the headrest, rather than having to rethread through the back of the seat.
We give the Cosatto All in All 4.5 out of 5 stars
