Silver Cross Pop 2 Review

The Silver Cross Pop has undergone a few make overs since it's introduction to the market. The latest edition is modern and stylish whilst retaining all of the features parent and child need in a stroller.

The Pop was neat and tidy from the start. It neatly slid out of its box and was ready to roll in just a minute flat. The front wheels and hood clicked on, the included raincover tucked into the basket, the harness straps adjusted to size and we were ready for our first trip out.

Convenience seems to be at the core of the Pop stroller as everything we did with it from start to finish was simple and never caused a fuss what so ever.

The frame has a chunky appearance and feel but it's all an optical illusion as the lightweight frame of this classic umbrella stroller is easy to lift and wasn't the slightest bit fiddly to lift in and out of cars or on and off public transport.

The chassis is modern and stylish and depending on the colour of stroller that you choose, the frame coordinates beautifully. Even the plastic mouldings on the frame are perfectly finished with that extra bit of detail. We tested the Jade colourway and the black coated chassis looked super sleek against the black and jade fabrics of the stroller.

The handles on the the Pop are the softest to hold. At first they felt a little chunkier than other strollers we had held onto, however it soon became obvious that these chunky soft grip handles were there for a reason - parents can easily push the Pop around all day and their hands will still be just as comfortable as ever. The handles are not height adjustable but at 107cm high, the Pop handles are suited to a range of different driver heights.

The wheels on the Pop (as expected with anything Silver Cross) are fabulously smooth rolling and handled beautifully on the tightest of turning circles. The front wheels can swivel or be locked off depending upon the type of terrain you are pushing over. One thing for sure is that the wheels on the newest edition of the Pop could easily roll for miles and miles.

The shopping basket on the pop is much the same as other umbrella strollers on the market. The sides are deep so it provides plenty of room for storing coats, drinks and snacks but accessibility is limited when the seat is reclined.

The seat on the Silver Cross Pop boasts a range of features that parent and child will fall in love with. With a width of approximately 48cm wide with tall back and a 25kg weight limit, even the 4 year old tester had plenty of room left in the seat.

The ventilated seat back has a full recline suitable for newborns to ride in or a toddler to have a daytime snooze, which is simply operated by pinching the easy grip lever together with just one hand.

The hood on the Pop is  real winning feature. The zip panel reveals a hood that offers maximum protection and has the added quality of a UPF 50 lining to really shade from the rays. When you don't need the extra protection, just zip the panel back up and the hood sits neatly at the top of the stroller seat.

The safety harness isn't just your usual harness, it oozes Silver Cross style and quality. The thick webbing can be threaded through three different height slots as well as adjusted via the size adjusters. The chunky round branded buckle is reassuringly strong as easy and fuss free to click your child in and out of the stroller seat.

The fabrics are stylish and classy and easily wipe-able if you happen to get any crumbs in the stroller seat (inevitable!).

The Pop gives parents the luxuries of a fuss free fold. The Pop folds just as a conventional umbrella stroller does but super smoothly and super gracefully - that real silver cross quality coming across in these tiny details.

Push the central foot lever upwards and then push your foot on the lever to the right of the chassis, the frame smoothly and effortlessly falls forwards. The chunky auto-locking clasp keeps the slim line parcel together whilst you it carry wherever you need to go.

The Pop is a classy, stylish and practical stroller packed full of features. Not just your average umbrella fold stroller, the Pop oozes substance and makes parent's life easier whilst keeping your child in supreme comfort and safety.

The roomy seat, extendable sun canopy, light chassis and tough wheels are just a few of the features the take the Pop so fabulous to use. Although it would've been nice for the Pop to come with a few free accessories, it's the simplicity and quality of this stroller that got the thumbs up from our Mummy testers on our recent stroller test mission.
