Nuna is fast gaining a reputation for creating quality and stylish pushchairs that parents love. The MIXX is Nuna's answer to the ‘do-it-all' pushchair that can cope with the demands of daily parenting life with ease. We've had the Nuna MIXX out in the big wide world and put it to the test.
Quality and sturdiness are two words at the forefront of our mind after a few weeks with the Nuna MIXX. Every function and feature is well finished and always served us well whether it be on the school run or on a car trip to the supermarket.
It looks fabulous too with deeply woven and super quality fabrics. The colour options are classy and we are sure that the melange design will wear well over time. The seat is comfortable and feels really well padded and it's super easy to adjust the harness height and length. We have been testing the MIXX in the winter months and really got the most out of the included padded apron and raincover. They are both very simple and by no means lavish, but very useful to have included in the box. It's great that the padded seat liner is removable, so that in the summer baby can rest in a mesh seat allowing for a cooler ride. The handlebar has an easy adjust and the bumper bar is a great addition too.
The basket is ample and can be split into two compartments to allow for separation of picnics and coats etc when on a day out, another small feature we loved!
The rear wheels are brilliant, they are made of quality rubber and are large and bouncy meaning the MIXX took us pretty much anywhere we wanted.
Flipping the seat on and off the frame and switching between parent and world facing modes is the simplest of tasks and folding the pushchair even simpler. There isn't any need to remove the seat from the frame which makes life so much simpler if you are in a hurry!
The MIXX is an overall great pushchair, but we did have some small gripes over our time using it. Firstly the hood - it's a great size with an extension panel and visor and even a magnetic opening peekaboo window. It does sit quite low on the seat though, which sometimes caused an issue when using the seat with our toddler tester.
The second niggle is the weight, it feels on the heavy side when pushing up hills and lifting in and out of the car.
We also noticed that the front swivel wheels are made of a totally different material to the fabulous rear wheels and weren't always as smooth to roll over the variety of surfaces that the rear wheels could handle.
The seat lays flat with an easy one handed recline and even though it is suitable from birth, we would much prefer having a newborn in the carrycot as it is far more sheltered. The seat itself is quite open when laid flat, especially if the hood isn't fully extended.
There are many great functions and features to mention with the MIXX! We can say hand on heart that it is a genuine all-rounder that looks good and serves up the goods for parents when it's needed the most. There's always niggles that we come across and with the MIXX this is the weight. There were occasions when we felt the burn whilst lifting it in and out of the car and transporting it.
The fold is easy to operate but may not fit into smaller spaces as the finished package isn't all that compact. It's also worth remembering that the seat, although suitable from birth, is slightly exposed for a delicate newborn, so we would recommend buying the very cosy MIXX carrycot to go on the MIXX pushchair chassis.
