Chassis

Everything that you need for the My Babiie MBX6 comes in a compact box, with minimal build required once you have it all unpacked. The rear wheels need clicking onto the chassis and the hood attaching.

The MBX6 has a brushed aluminium, slim frame with chrome look sections highlighting the fold areas.

Handlebar

The handlebar of the MBX6 is static and covered with foam for comfort. As the height can't be adjusted, it may not suit all parent heights. We have tested with someone at 5' 6", and it was pretty much spot on. The centre of the handlebar has the button to fold, so you'll need to hold either side of that.

Wheels

With two plastic wheels on the front and two on the back, you don't get the same rattling that you sometimes do with strollers with doubled up wheels. The front wheels spin nicely for better manoeuvrability, but can't be locked off, which makes it better suited to an urban setting rather than somewhere with bumps and lumps.

Brake

The brake is placed just behind the right back wheel and is press down for on push back up for off. Though quite a small pedal, it's smooth to operate and easily accessed.

Brake

For shopping trips, the basket underneath is a good size, but does have quite high meshed sides which could prevent access with bulkier items. If using the stroller with a sleeping child, then the reclined seat completely blocks it off.

Seat

The seat back of the MBX6 measures 45cm, which isn't the largest we've seen, but should last an average toddler. It is plenty wide enough for a chunky baby though at 35cm. There's a five point harness that has shoulder pads and two different height positions. To adjust the harness height is a case of rethreading through the back of the seat and there are plastic buckles to change the length. There is padding in the seat to offer comfort to a toddler, but we don't feel that there is quite enough to use with a newborn. The material seems durable and should wipe sticky marks away well.

My Babiie include a foam covered bumper bar that also has a material cover over the top. Buttons on the outside release it in gate opening style, making it easier to place or remove your child. To keep them cosy, a lined footmuff comes with the stroller. This slides over the end of the footrest and attaches to the side of the chassis with four Velcro tags. As it comes up quite high, it offers plenty of protection from the elements.

Reclining the seat is done with a strap at the back. It's not possible to achieve a very upright position, even when tightening as far as it will go. This angle could annoy older toddlers who like to see where they are going. The buttons need to squeeze together and pushed up or down the strap.

With the plastic window in the back of the hood, the parent can still keep an eye on their child. As there is no cover on it, it also lets in constant light to the child. A handy little pocket on the back is the perfect size to keep your keys and phone. The hood can be further extended with a small sun visor at the front, which is detailed with cream piping.

The footrest is adjustable across two positions, horizontal while sleeping and then down when the child is sat up in the seat. There are buttons at either side to do this. When down, the footrest can still spring back up slightly and doesn't lock into place.

For our typical weather, a raincover comes with the package and is made from a nice quality plastic that throws easily over the stroller. It's generously sized to allow for little feet and Velcro's to the chassis and around the handlebar to keep it in place.

Fold

The best feature of the My Babiie MBX6 is the fold. It can be done one-handed and unlike an umbrella stroller, folds down into quite a small package. To complete the fold, you need to squeeze the small button at the centre of the handlebar and then squeeze in the larger button. The lock will then be released and you can push to handlebar forward onto itself to fold down. It makes for a better fold if you have the seat in the lay flat position, and it will then freestand. Freestanding, the seat back does drop down away from the rest of the folded pushchair, so we'd like there to be somewhere for this to tuck in. Laying it flat does keep everything together neatly. To get it upright again, you press the two buttons again to release the automatic lock and pull the handlebar up.

Conclusion

The My Babiie MBX6 is a lightweight stroller that has a unique and compact fold. If you need a nippy and durable budget stroller to carry your child from A to B, then take a closer look.

Though slim and compact, it still feels quite sturdy when manoeuvred with weight on board. We would like it if there was a higher attention to detail on the functioning of some of the features, such as the footrest, recline and seat back when folded.

We liked the fold though, and it makes a nice change to see a stroller that isn't long and bulky to fit in the car. The fact that it can be done one-handed makes it quick and easy to do.
