Review Summary

Summary

Overall we felt the Libelle was fun, convenient and retained the quality Cybex finish that we expect of such a well respected brand. For an occasional use travel pushchair it is just the ticket but for more consistent daily use you might want to size up to the Eezy S stroller family.

Cybex Libelle Review
Things we love...

There is no doubt about it that the Cybex Libelle is convenient… and as a parent convenience is a luxury. When it arrived on our doorstep in the tiny box, we expected to have to complete some sort of assembly however we were thrilled to see we just popped it straight up and it was ready to stroll right from the box.

The seat size and width was great for testers of all sizes and ages. The harness adjusted easily and the partial recline was easy to operate. The adjustable leg rest is a huge bonus for smaller babies and provided that extra little bit of comfort when they were napping. We loved the hood as often strollers of this size skimp on the extra features such as viewing windows however the Libelle hood not only looks great but does its job well too.

The wheels are well engineered as we expect from Cybex and are great for strolling smooth surfaces - perfect for airports, pavements and strolling those holiday village streets. The front wheels swivel which means manoeuvrability is great.

Often on your travels you will be carrying a bit of extra luggage and the basket is great these occasions. It was easily accessible from both the front and the back of the pushchair.

Even though it's a compact stroller, you can purchase car seat adaptors to add your infant carrier to the frame and use it from birth too.

The fold of course steals the show with the Libelle. Operated from the two separate handlebars, it concertinas down like no other pushchair that we have tested and can honestly fit in some handbags it is that small! It weighs only 5.9kg.

Things to look out for…

As an occasional use travel stroller the Libelle is perfect. If you are hoping to use it day in day out for long walks into town then you may need to double check that the wheels can withstand this wear. If you are planning on strolling along rough coastal paths or along grass this might also be a point to note as the Libele copes far better over smoother surfaces.

The higher seat weight limit of 22kg sounds appealing but the design of the chassis meant we did feel a little uneasy about popping kerbs and cornering with a heavier toddler in.

Our final note is that the Libelle is not suitable from birth as it only has a partial recline, however this recline is super for naps for babies from 6 months upwards.

Our verdict

The super handy Libelle is the perfect travel companion to sling over your shoulder for short and snappy trips. The extra small fold can not only be your parenting party trick but it means that you can drive your baby straight down the aisle of a plane and pop it in the overhead luggage compartments on nearly all airlines.

We know that the Libelle has been tested to withstand a child of 22kg (our 6 year old is still not 22kg in weight) but we must admit that we did feel the strain on the chassis when cornering with a 20kg child in the seat so would be more comfortable using it with children 2.5 years and younger.

Overall we felt the Libelle was fun, convenient and retained the quality Cybex finish that we expect of such a well respected brand. For an occasional use travel pushchair it is just the ticket but for more consistent daily use you might want to size up to the Eezy S stroller family.
