Review // Cosatto Wow Continental
Things we love

Those that are familiar with Cosatto will know that babies are at the forefront of everything they do. This is evidently clear in the Cosatto Wow Continental. A multi-terrain pushchair that is travel system compatible, with many features highlighted just for your little one's comfort.

First and foremost, we cannot review a Cosatto product without mentioning the colourways. We were testing the Continental in the beautiful Fika Forest design. Continuing their work with the Sussex baby lab, Cosatto's easily identifiable patterns have been incorporated beautifully into the Parisian style of the Continental. There to stimulate baby's cognitive development and memory, the bold interior patterns are incorporated into a more traditional pram style that will please both parents and babies alike.

Looking at the carrycot we instantly noticed several handy features designed for both babies comfort and parents ease of use. Notably spacious, the carrycot is a great addition to this pushchair offering a safe sleep space for babies from birth to approximately 6 months. The fabrics, not only bold and beautifully designed with Cosatto's fika forest pattern, are super soft and even more importantly for parents, machine washable! The hood offers UPF100+ protection making sure your little one is always safe from the sun's rays and the ventilation built into the hood helps keep babies cool on those warmer days. The hood also has some handy fabric hooks to attach toys to, we tested it here with the travel companion included with the pushchair. The carrycot also features a 5 position recline. Designed to keep baby in the optimum sleeping position even whilst inclined, it offers a great relief for those suffering with reflux or even a chesty cold. It is easily operated with the sliding mechanism on the bottom of the carrycot, which is accessible when positioned on the chassis.

Suitable for all seasons the carrycot also comes with a zip on insect net, raincover, and a winter shield which is built into the apron. Just use the magnetic poppers at the top of the hood and the winter flap lifts up with a built- in peep window to keep your little one protected from the colder elements, without compromising your view of them. The carrycot also offers dual use as it is suitable for occasional overnight sleeping, giving parents a great travel solution in the first six months. It clicks easily onto the chassis and has a handy memory button system to help you remove it without having to lean over.

The seat unit offers a great space for your little one to grow into. The recline feature offering 4 possible positions, including a safe from birth lay flat option, is operated with just one hand and gives your baby or toddler a comfy space to travel in. It can be fitted either parent or world facing and offers some great features, similar to the carrycot. The hood once again features those well known cosatto patterns and again offers UPF100+ protection. With a pull out sun visor, our little tester was well covered even in the fully reclined position. A ventilated panel, which doubles up as a peep window gives parents peace of mind in world facing mode whilst keeping baby cooler on those warmer days. The toy hooks from the carrycot are also mirrored in the seat unit hood. A few other handy features to note are the gate opening bumper bar, the infant insert which is machine washable, and the one-hand adjustable calf support. Suitable up to 20kg we feel that the seat offers a great sized space for older toddlers too.

You cannot fully appreciate the Continental's full versatility without looking at the chassis. Offering dual suspension, it truly is a well functioning multi terrain pushchair. With a switch to swap between a tighter spring for urban strolls and a more loosened, bouncy push for those country walks, the Wow Continental is suited for most environments. We put it through its paces up some farm tracks and with that extra bounce suspension it pushed well without disturbing our little tester. The switches to operate are located on the rear axle near each wheel and can seem a little stiff, but we feel this is just because you are pulling the suspension tighter. The puncture proof multi terrain wheels also contributed to the smoother ride. The handle has a telescopic adjustment giving a variety of driving heights for parents. With parent testers ranging from 5ft 7" to 6ft 2", both were able to push comfortably. There is a very generous basket underneath which held all of our essentials with room to spare, and features a handy zipped compartment for those more valuable items.

The fold is easy to operate with a button on the right and two triggers to pull up. The chassis collapses with ease and locks into place with a latch near the handle. Simply undo the latch and pull the handle up to open back up.

Travel system compatible, the chassis has been tested with a multitude of car seats including the Port i-Size which can be bought as part of a bundle with the Wow Continental. All you need is the correct adapters (sold in a bundle or separately).

The brake is located near the rear right wheel and is easy to engage with a click down and the front wheels can easily be locked in the forward facing position with a simple twist mechanism above each wheel. Nothing was too difficult to operate, and the aluminium chassis performed very well with our tester.

Things to look out for

As with many of the multi-terrain pushchairs on the market, we do feel that there is a compromise to be made with the Wow Continental's size. As a two piece fold with a chassis that weighs 9kg, this system may not be suited for those looking for something more compact. The wheels can be removed to get the system into smaller boots as Cosatto have "small boot tested" with a fiat 500, though this is without the carrycot and we are unsure how parents would feel removing the wheels after every use. Being a taller system, we are unsure how shorter parents would feel pushing it, particularly in carrycot mode or with the seat unit fully upright. We do feel however, those looking for something more robust and with multi-terrain use are often willing to make this compromise.

The brake, though advertised as flip-flop friendly, is a little stiff to kick up when releasing. With this in mind we did prefer to operate it with solid shoes on.

With the carrycot being so spacious, it is a little big for some parents to handle. The one memory button system works well to aid in this, but does take a few tries to get used to. We also felt that the handle in the hood is not the easiest to access, particularly for those with bigger hands or who would like to lift with their left hand. The zip on insect net can be a little fiddly as the zip is located inside the net, rather than accessible from the outside.

Finally the only thing that could be improved on the seat unit would be to incorporate a memory button system to remove it from the chassis. The two circular buttons are not difficult to operate but we do feel that memory buttons would make handling this well sized seat a little easier for some parents.

Our verdict

If you are looking for a pushchair that offers all the versatility of a travel system, with a well thought out multi-terrain push, and no compromise on style, the Wow Continental could well be the one for you. We love the dual suspension, statement patterns and traditional styling of this pushchair, which we think will make it a big winner with a lot of parents.

The size compromises are easy to make when greeted with the beautiful quality of product in all areas; fabric, suspension, push and fold. Either as a stand alone stroller from birth, or a travel system with matching accessories, the Wow Continental is a well made, high quality product that comes with a 4 year guarantee for that extra piece of mind. As with a lot of their products we feel there is a lot to be enjoyed out of this system by both parents and babies alike.
