Sophie's Verdict:

The Etu Plus is a wallet-friendly compact-folding stroller from comparatively new pushchair brand CBX. We've put it to the Pushchair Expert test...

CBX Etu Plus Review
Things we love

The price tag of the CBX Etu Plus will certainly be appealing to many parents. For just £129.95 you get a ready-to-use stroller complete with a raincover - there is no arguing about the value for money you get here.

The lie-flat seat is operated by a strap recline system so there are infinite possibilities for seat positions. For newborns the seat lies flat and is quite sheltered; you would probably just need to pop a cocoon or cosy footmuff in there to keep them snug.

Underneath the pushchair, the basket is sufficient for a small stroller, and we really liked the way we could reach into it from front or back.

The seat is a lovely size and babies of all ages and sizes were comfortable in it. The hood is also great and extends over your little passenger's head to shade them from sun, wind or drizzle.

We also loved the dimensions of the fold and the included travel/storage bag that comes in the box with the pushchair. No more mucky wheels getting the car boot dirty!

Things to look out for

The strap recline system is great for achieving a comfortable lying position but if you have a toddler that likes to sit bolt upright they might get a little frustrated - as with many strollers, the seat did not seem to sit up enough for our 2-year-old. We also found that when our toddler tried to sit more upright independently from the seat back and pull herself up using the bumper bar, she struggled and sprang straight back into the seat as the bar is made from a bendy and flimsy rubber material. Because of this we had a few tantrums to cope with on top of juggling everything else, so we tended to leave the bumper bar at home!

The brand information states that the Etu Plus is compliant with MOST airline carry-on luggage requirements but you would definitely have to remove the wheels to achieve a cabin-friendly fold size. We also found the fold a bit of a fiddle to start with; there is certainly a knack to it which took us a while to grasp!

Our verdict

For £129.95 you get what you pay for. The budget price gives you a usable and comfortable stroller that is fabulous for occasional use but maybe not quite up to the task of everyday lengthy strolling around town.

The comfy seat, nice-sized basket and great hood are all positives but you might need to watch out for the quality of the wheel material, the very bendy bumper bar and the seating position for toddlers who want to have a good look at the world around them.

If you're after a holiday stroller to use for a week here and there or to keep in the car boot for the odd days it's needed then the Etu Plus is a great value option.
