Bumbleride Indie 2019 Review
The Bumbleride Indie is a 3-wheeled all-terrain pushchair designed to keep up with active parents. We've been putting it to the test.
The Bumbleride Indie is a fabulous option for parents wanting to explore the great outdoors and go on dog walks off the beaten track.

- Smooth and light push
- Large hood
- Good-sized basket
- Fiddly bumper bar
- No included raincover
Smart and sturdy, the Bumbleride Indie means business. For £449.99 you receive the pushchair, ready to roll. The seat does recline flat but there is also the option to buy a carrycot for your newborn, and adding car seat adaptors means you can use it as a travel system too. The ability to use a carrycot or infant carrier with a 3-wheel all-terrain stroller is a huge benefit and is a feature that is not always available on off-roading pushchairs.
The three large wheels really performed over a range of surfaces and we loved that Bumbleride include a tyre pump in the box with the pushchair. We kept the pump in the zipped compartment of the roomy shopping basket so that it was always on hand in case we needed it. The basket is big enough to hold a small shop or a changing bag and coats and is cleverly raised off the ground so that it doesn't brush on the rough terrain if you are out on a more adventurous stroll.
The seat is broad and the hood gives really great coverage. The silent-opening peek-a-boo window is handy and we also appreciated the small zip pocket on the back of the hood for tucking away keys and cards to keep them close at hand.
It impressed us that Bumbleride is an environmentally aware brand, caring for our planet by producing the pushchair fabrics out of 100% recycled polyester (rPET), utilising 28 previously used water bottles per set of fabrics.
By far the winner on the ‘Things we love' list, though, has to be the easy one-piece fold. It leaves a pretty neat package for such a proud-standing pushchair and the wheels are really easily removed if they get muddy whilst you are out.
We have enjoyed using the Bumbleride Indie pushchair and felt it performed brilliantly overall but, as ever, there are a few things to be aware of. The pushchair seat is roomy and comfortable for baby but the bumper bar was a bit of a fiddle to get on and off. As it isn't gate-opening it needs to be removed completely, especially for toddlers to climb in, so we tended to leave it at home to avoid this fuss.
It is also worth noting that if you are heading out in questionable weather, there is no raincover included (though you can buy one as an additional accessory). We were caught out on a few occasions and had to use coats to shelter our passenger from the rain.
The Bumbleride Indie is a fabulous option for parents wanting to explore the great outdoors and go on dog walks off the beaten track. The comfortable seat can be adapted into a parent-facing pram by purchasing the carrycot and it can even become a travel system with the addition of the car seat adaptors. The bumper bar could be more user-friendly and there is no included raincover for our wonderful British weather but the large basket, sturdy wheels and workmanlike persona of the Bumbleride Indie really delivered for our active outdoor lifestyle.
