It's one of the world's favourite tandem pushchairs and the 2015 version scored a huge 5 out of 5 stars in our review. So let's take a look at the new 2017 version and see what's changed.
UPPAbaby have been favoured by families for many years thanks to their talent for producing products that work for parents and children too. The UPPAbaby design team clearly listened to what parents wanted when they created the 2015 Vista and the new 2017 version has been tweaked and altered to be even more perfect than the last.

New fabrics and colours have been introduced for 2017 and the UPPAbaby Vista 2017 is now available in Austin (Green/Leather), Loic (White/Leather), Dennison (Bordeaux), Henry (Blue Marl/Leather), Jake (Black), Pascal (Grey) and Taylor (Indigo).
The chassis comes in either Carbon or Silver, depending on your fabric colour option. Three of the new colours come with upgraded Leather handle and bumper bars!
The 2017 Vista has seen a few significant changes to the chassis which improve the overall performance of the pushchair. The sleek and lightweight chassis of the Vista is sturdy but streamlined, simple but 100% effective in all of its functions - just what parents love!
The first thing that will strike you as you pop the Vista chassis up out of the box is the monstrous size of the shopping basket. It's quite literally the largest basket we have ever set eyes on here at PX HQ. The back axle does run through the shopping basket, but this doesn't impede on the storage whatsoever. We never struggled to put everything we needed and more into the chassis of the Vista, even when used in double modes with carrycots, car seats and rumble seat. The other nice touch of the shopping basket is the handy pockets at the back, these are great for keeping smaller objects in when you don't want them to rattle around in the vastness of the large basket.
The Vista brake is also fuss-free to use. A nice large pedal next to the back right hand wheel can be pressed on to engage the brake and pressed again to disengage. It was great not to have to scuff your shoes or scrape sandal clad feet by pushing the pedal back upwards. The pedal is of such a size that even in a double configuration with an extra car seat, carrycot or seat, we could still use the pedal with ease and weren't ever fumbling around with our feet trying to engage the brake.
It's so important to mention the wheels on the 2017 Vista. Firstly, they are of the utmost quality. It is clear that they will provide a lifetime of strolling thanks to the brand new polyurethane tyres. The wheels are hard wearing but still soft, with enough bounce in them to give your little passenger the smoothest of ride over all manner of terrains. We used the 2017 Vista on grass, gravel, pavements and cobbles and there wasn't anywhere the Vista couldn't take us. These super savvy new wheels not only wear better and provide a smoother ride than what we experienced with the 2015 Vista, but they have also reduced the overall weight and width of the 2017 Vista! The wheelbase is now almost 1" narrower, meaning you can get through some slightly smaller gaps. Nevertheless it's still quite a broad based pushchair, but the new lightweight polyurethane wheels have reduced the weight of the overall pushchair by 0.5kg - every little helps!
The front 20cm wheels swivel with ease and overall the Vista feels as light as a feather to push, especially when in single mode. We loved the softer feel of the independent shock-absorbing suspension which features on the front and rear wheels. Strolling on smoother ground seemed to gently rock baby to sleep and pushing over rougher terrain didn't rattle them around too much either.
The handlebar on the 2017 Vista has also seen an update and the extendable handlebar is now covered in high quality real leather if you choose either the Henry, Austin or Loic colourways. The leather is sustainably produced and is REACH certified meeting EU requirements for chemical testing. If you go with a colour that doesn't include these covers, then you can purchase them as an extra. The cover easily zips over the handlebar and bumper bar for an instant upgrade, in either Black or Saddle which is a lovely tan.
The height of the handlebar is pretty impressive too. With a range from 100-108cm, everyone can feel comfortable pushing the Vista. To alter the height of the handlebar, simply squeeze the central button on the handlebar and click to your preferred height.
The Vista has really impressed us throughout its review by being so utterly flexible. In addition to using the Vista as a single parent or world facing pushchair with the main pushchair seat or the carrycot, there are also 9 basic ways to set the Vista 2017 up as a double pushchair - which means you can make it work for your family, whatever the situation. You will need to purchase upper and lower adaptors if you want to use the Vista in a double mode, but once you have these the opportunities seem endless!
1. Toddler Seat and Rumble Seat world facing
This is a great option if you have two children of the same age - you will need to use the Upper Adaptors for this configuration, which make the toddler seat sit higher than the rumble seat meaning both children can have a clear view of the road ahead! The Rumble Seat will clip onto the Lower Adaptors.
2. Toddler Seat Parent facing, Rumble Seat world facing
We loved being able to set the Vista up in this mode. It shows that UPPAbaby have recognised that each child has different needs. In this mode you can chat to one child whilst the other takes in the world around them. Using the Upper Adaptors means that the parent facing toddler seat is brought into a higher position, perfect for chatting and interactive with your child. The Lower Adaptors are used to attach the Rumble Seat.
3. Rumble Seat and Toddler seat both parent facing
Using the Upper and Lower Adaptors, both children can face their parent with an uninterrupted view. We were really pleased to see that there was still plenty of room to get each child in and out of the seats and it's even possible to recline both seats fully too.
4. Toddler Seat parent facing and carrycot parent facing
This mode is fab for those early days with a newborn and toddler. Whilst your newborn naps in the shelter of the carrycot on the Lower Adaptors, the toddler can be close to their parent whilst mounted on the Upper Adaptors.
5. Two carrycots
Perfect for newborn twins, two carrycots can sit on the frame of the Vista. Although the hood of the bottom carrycot does touch the back of the higher carrycot when fully extended, there's still plenty of room to get both babies in and out.
6. Rumble Seat, Toddler seat and Piggyback board
One of the most fabulous features of the Vista is the ability to travel three children on the chassis with ease! The PiggyBack board can be added to the rear of the frame and is perfect for your growing toddler to stand on and hitch a ride when their little legs can't carry them any longer. Your older toddler or child just stands on the PiggyBack board and holds onto the sides of the pushchair handlebar to keep their balance.
7. Rumble Seat parent facing and car seat
Perfect for quick trips in and out of the car when you don't want to wake your baby, your toddler can rest easy in the lower Rumble Seat whilst baby can be close at hand so you can keep a careful eye on them. You can still recline the Rumble Seat if your toddler needs a nap whilst you are out too.
8. Rumble Seat world facing and car seat
Another great option for when you want to keep a close eye on your newborn in their car seat but your toddler is wide awake and wants to take in the world around them.
9. Two car seats
With the car seat adapters included in the box, you can set the Vista 2017 up for twins in their car seats from birth. We found this option really handy for quick car trips or quick trips to the shops to get the essentials.
The roomy size of the 2017 Vista seats will not disappoint. The main seat measures 30cm in width, a huge 53cm in height and just under 25cm in depth. The Rumble Seat is ever so slightly smaller, but as the hoods have the ability to be slid up the frame to a higher position, there's still plenty of room in the Rumble Seat (up to 50cm) for a toddler up to around 3 years old. Able to take up to 15kg in both seats, they should last until your toddler is approximately 3 years old.
The 2017 version of the Vista isn't just practical, it's incredibly stylish too. The effortlessly classy embroidered fabrics are hard wearing but have a glossy and sleek look and feel to them all the same. On most occasions, we didn't need more than a baby wipe to make juice spillages and the odd smudge to disappear, but just in case you need to, there is the option to remove the seat fabrics totally to wash them too.
The UPPAbaby sun hoods are always admired by parents for their practicality and clever design. The 2017 version see's a fab improvement to the drop down visor as it is now made of a crease free woven material that wears better and keeps its shape. When the hood is fully extended and the visor is down, it was great to know that baby was fully protected from harmful rays and even wind and rain too. The viewing window in the top of the hood is by far the largest we have ever seen! It gives parents a great view of what their child is getting up to as well as offering extra ventilation. It's held into place with magnets, for a smooth operation.
There is a one handed recline system on both the main toddler seat and Rumble Seat. The recline is operated by a lever on the back of the seat and has 5 positions to suit your child throughout a range of ages. As well as fully reclining whilst your baby naps, we found it really useful that the seats sat bolt upright too - nosy toddlers could sit comfortably and take in the world instead of straining and pulling themselves up against the bumper bar.
For younger babies or when toddlers are napping, the main seat has an adjustable 25cm leg rest so that little people can stretch their legs out and really nap in comfort. When your child's legs extend past this leg rest, there is a foot rest on the chassis of the pushchair that they can rest their feet on so that their legs aren't dangling uncomfortably. There is no adjustable leg rest on the rumble seat, instead your child rests their legs in the vast space of the pushchair basket. Each seat has a great 5 point harness system. The shoulder straps have neat but nicely padded shoulder protectors to make the harness comfortable for your child and the unique U-shaped UPPAbaby buckle is extremely easy to use. We loved how easy the harness was to adjust by just pulling the cords in one single motion to tighten the harness to the correct size for your child.
Both the main toddler seat and the Rumble Seat of the Vista come complete with their own fully swinging bumper bar. A small button on the inside of the bumper bar releases it and makes it easy to get baby in and out even with just one hand. The 2017 version of the Vista offers the option of a bumper bar cover in full grain real leather to compliment the handlebar of your pushchair, but if you prefer, you can still get the rubber cover on some colourways.
The carrycot comes as part of the Vista package, which is great as you can avoid the further expense of shelling out on what can be a really expensive but pretty much essential piece of kit if you plan to use the pushchair from newborn.
The carrycot clips straight onto the Vista frame in single mode and in double modes you can use it on the Upper or Lower Adaptors in one of the many configurations mentioned earlier. There is also the option of purchasing an extra carrycot if you want to use the 2017 Vista for twins.
Just like the rest of the 2017 Vista, the carrycot (or bassinet as UPPAbaby refer to it as) has undergone several improvements. It has its own sun hood which locks into place and is adjustable using the buttons on either side of the hinges. The hood features the same gorgeously woven improved fabrics that we see on the seat unit as well as the new woven (wrinkle resistant UPF 50+) sun visor which drops down to give the ultimate protection for any baby lying in the comfort of this fabulous carrycot.
Within the sun visor are built in mesh panels to allow a better airflow to baby and there is even the bonus of a zip open breathable mesh panel at the rear of the hood too.
The size of the carrycot is also quite impressive. It is regularly said of the importance for baby to lie flat for the first 6 months of their life to encourage correct development of their bones, muscles and vital organs - with a size of 70cm (L) x 33cm (D) x 25cm (W) this carrycot should allow for this with ease.
The lining is sumptuously soft and can be zipped out in a jiffy it needs to be washed - which is very useful if you have a refluxy baby or indeed experience one of the many nappy explosions that we all know happen!
There is a mattress provided with the carrycot which is covered in an easily removable and superbly soft cover, which is organic and breathable. The mattress cover also has a really clever waterproof liner to protect against those newborn accidents!
The Vista carrycot is impressive at that, but the fact that it can be removed from the pushchair frame with one hand and in one smooth motion makes it even more desirable! In the centre of the hood frame you will see a grey button. Just push and slide to the side and the carrycot will lift off the pushchair frame without waking any sleeping babies. This positioning of the handle also means that there's no need to bend when you are lifting it from the floor, or need to move a bumper bar out of the way when you are placing or removing the baby. And even better, as the carrycot has been approved for overnight sleeping, you can pop it onto the additionally available carrycot stand and use it as a moses basket - fuss free and practical - just the way we like our parenting products to be!It is also worth mentioning that the carrycot comes complete with its own raincover and mosquito net, so you really are equipped with everything you might need for every eventuality.
In single modes the Vista drives like a dream. Even with a hefty 2.5 year old toddler in situ, it felt as light as a feather and popped up and down steps and curbs with incredible ease.As a single to tandem pushchair, the Vista has a long wheel base to help it accommodate both carrycots or seats at the same time. Where some may expect this to affect the handling of the pushchair, it honestly did not.
The brand new design of the wheels not only means for super smooth riding for your pushchair passengers, it also make the pushchair a whole inch narrower and half a kilo lighter. We loved this as it meant we could fit through doorways and narrower gaps with ease as well as turn on a sixpence when needed. As with any tandem pushchair, the weight will obviously increase as more children are added to the pushchair frame! With two fully laden seat units, we won't deny that the Vista was heavy but it was still smooth to push and wasn't at all a struggle to steer or control.
The Vista fold is just as easy to use and operate as every other feature on this so far very impressive pushchair. The ‘one-step' fold is operated by pulling upwards on the levers on either side of the handlebar and the handlebar drops towards to the floor, folding into position and locking with its own chassis auto-lock. In single modes there's no need to even remove the seat (as long as it is in the forward facing position). Removing the seat does make the fold lighter and easier to carry and lift, but if you're in a hurry, it's great to know you can fold the pushchair with the seat still in place. If you are using the Vista in one of its tandem modes, you can even fold the chassis with the Rumble Seat still attached, as long as both seats are forward facing. Just fold back the main seat's leg rest before you start, and do the rest as before. As it will still free stand like this, it's ideal for storing in your hallway.
The chassis of the Vista is free-standing once folded, if you leave the handlebar at its most extended height. You may panic about scuffing the real leather handlebar, as the Vista rests on its handle when folded. But don't worry, as UPPAbaby have cleverly designed the handlebar with two chunky rubber stands that take the weight of the pushchair to stop your handle receiving any scrapes or getting wet on the floor.
As a long wheel based pushchair and a full sized travel system, single to tandem pushchair, we won't deny that the Vista is bigger than other pushchairs when folded but we didn't find it too big to manage and store, especially if we removed the back wheels, which pop off in a jiffy.
In all honesty it's hard for us to point out a better pushchair than the UPPAbaby Vista. As pushchairs go, it ticks all of the boxes, and for pramaholics it is a must have. The multi-functional qualities of the Vista offer parent and child so many amazing features and this latest 2017 model has been refined to such a level that it is seriously sleek and stylish too!Parents will love the ability of the 2017 Vista to grow with their family and even though the initial outlay might seem quite large, this is the only pushchair you will ever need to buy to transport 1, 2 and even 3 children - which means that over time you get more than your money's worth out of this fabulous package!
UPPAbaby have really excelled themselves with the improvements that they have made to the 2017 model of this ever popular pushchair. The frame is narrower and oozes style, the wheels are solid polyurethane, narrower and lighter with all-round better suspension, the sunshade is made out of gorgeous new fabric and there is also an option of genuine leather handlebar and genuine leather bumper bar.
All of these tiny tweaks have turned the Vista into pretty much the perfect pushchair for parent and child in pretty much any situation - and it still looks gorgeously stylish too.
We give the UPPAbaby Vista 2017 5 out of 5 stars
